We will need the following information to hospitalize your pet:
Vaccine history: proof of current DALP2-CV (Distemper Complex) and Rabies vaccinations are required for dogs. Current FCRP (Feline Distemper) and Rabies vaccination are required for cats. If these vaccinations are not current we will administer them at an additional charge. This provides a safer environment for all pets hospitalized with us.
Dogs must have a current, negative Heartworm test and/or be on Heartworm preventive. Dogs that have
Heartworm disease are at increased risk for anesthetic complications. If your dog is not current on
Heartworm testing, we will perform a test at an additional charge.
Pre-anesthetic blood testing can help identify any underlying problems before anesthetic is administered. We require a mini blood profile for dogs under 8 years of age. This profile covers the major areas of concern (liver & kidney function). We recommend a complete profile for all pets over 8 years of age. This profile is much more in depth and may find subtle changes not apparent in the mini profile.
We recommend a Feline Leukemia (FeLv) and Feline immunodeficiency Virus (F1V) test for cats over 6 months of age, or a leukemia test alone for cats under 6 months of age. These diseases can increase anesthetic risk.
We offer microchipping for identification while your pet is anesthetized. These chips can be scanned when a pet is lost and helpful in reuniting a pet with it's owner. They also offer positive identification if your pet is stolen. The chip is placed under the skin between the shoulder blades with a needle, much like a hypodermic injection.
We can obtain a fecal sample for analysis when your pet is here if you choose. This will determine if intestinal parasites are present.
Please do not feed your pet for 12 hours before anesthesia. Water can be given prior to most procedures; if in doubt, please call us.
Your pet will be admitted and discharged by a technician. This will allow you to receive any instructions and ask any questions you may have. You can always contact us with any concerns that arise after your pet is home.
We request that you drop off your pet between 8:00AM and 9:00AM on the day of your appointment. If you need to drop your pet off before 8:00AM please check with the receptionist for available days and times. Early drop off allows us to examine your pet and perform any diagnostic testing before anesthesia. The procedure may not be performed until later that day.
Thank you for trusting us with the care of your pet. We will do everything we can to make your pet's stay as safe and comfortable as possible. Please call us with any questions or concerns you may have.
